Be gentle with yourself. You’re doing the best you can.
Hello beautiful souls,
This week doesn’t need your sharp edges.
If your body already feels braced, jaw tight, shoulders lifted, pause for a moment. Let this week begin with softening, not striving.
A simple way to soften today: After cleansing your face, warm a few drops of oil or balm between your palms. Press it gently into your skin instead of rubbing. Let your hands linger. Breathe slowly. This isn’t about fixing your skin, it’s about telling your body it’s safe to slow down.
Softening can be physical. Softening can be emotional. Softening can be spiritual.
You don’t have to meet the week fully armored. You’re allowed to begin gently.
Today I'd like to share a page from my commonplace book. It is one I return to often, especially in winter:
“Be gentle with yourself. You’re doing the best you can.”
I keep this quote close for the days when my inner voice gets sharp, impatient, or heavy with expectations.
If you’d like to work with this page today, copy the quote somewhere and write a short response to it. Just a few lines. As if the quote were spoken directly to you by someone who cares deeply.
You might write: I forget this sometimes. Here’s where I’m struggling right now. This is what feels hard today.
Let it be honest. No polishing required.
For skincare, choose one comforting step tonight... maybe a creamy cleanser, a balm, or your favorite moisturizer. Linger there longer than usual. Apply it slowly. Look at yourself with kindness while you do.
I love pairing this moment with rose as it is soft, subtle, and not overpowering. Rose has a way of easing emotional edges and inviting compassion back into the body.
As you close the page, consider this quiet promise: This week, I will speak to myself the way I would speak to someone I love.
