Slow reading for sensitive givers
Slow Reading: A Softer Way
Slow Reading: A Softer Way
If you love to read but end the day exhausted from life, from caregiving, or whatever, this post is for you.
Slow reading is a gentle way of reading without rushing, finishing, or trying to take everything in.
It’s reading a few lines…
and letting them be enough.
It’s pausing when something resonates, re-reading a passage if it feels comforting and closing the book before you feel tired or overwhelmed.
There’s no goal.
No pressure to remember.
No need to keep going.
Just a few words…
and a little space to receive them.
In a world that often asks you to move quickly, to process, respond, and keep up,
this is something slower and quieter.
A sentence.
A phrase.
A moment that meets you where you are.
You don’t have to finish the page.
You can pause.
You can close the book.
You can come back later.
This is reading as a place to land…
not something to complete.
Over the next few days or weeks, I'm not sure yet, I’ll share a few gentle ways to practice this, especially on the days when your mind or energy feels full.
